I Stole Her Look: Divya from ‘Royal Pains’

I am a huge fan of the hit TV show Royal Pains. One my FABfave characters is the nurse practitioner Diyva. She wears the most FABulous ensembles on the show and today I stole her look!

Divya wears ensembles that are just bursting with color. With the show being filmed in the summer and being set in the Hamptons, I understand why. Take a look at Divya’s head to toe look from an episode this season:

This look was quite easy for me to mimic. Most of the items I already had in my closet. Here’s how:

– I used a hot pink short sleeved shirt and wore it open like a jacket. I’m in Texas and the short sleeves work better in this Texas heat.
– I was grocery shopping and spotted a red lace cami at Walmart for three bucks!
-I wore white linen pants that I already had… I had to get them in before Labor Day! #old school
– I pulled out some gold jewelry (which I rarely wear) from my jewelry box. I did purchase the green beaded necklace from Sam Moon for $5.99.
-Green flats from TJ Maxx for $19.99.
-Lastly, my FABfave Emma Fox handbag.

This look is so colorful and fun! I have already gotten so many compliments today. I have another Divya look that I will be making my own in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned…. And thanks Divya!! 🙂

Really Emma Fox?

This past weekend was tax free in Texas. While on the hunt for bargains, I came across one of my FABfaves… A black version of my Emma Fox fold over tote. This bag retails for $298, but I snagged it for $129.99. Cha-Ching!

I have this same handbag in a soft mustard color. I get compliments every time I carry it. One thing that did not dawn on me, for some reason, was the fact that neither bag came with a dust bag. All of my other brand name bags came with one, but not these.

“Perhaps it’s because I purchased them at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s,” was was my first thought. Then I did a quick Google search and came across many posts, comments, etc. about Emma Fox bags not coming with a dust bag. *gasps* What tha? All of my better quality bags have dust bags… from my LV bags, to my Gucci bags, to my Michael Kors and Dooney & Burke bags to even my BeBe and Coach bags. Emma Fox, this is unacceptable!

My brain immediately started to click. I went online to eBay and wholesaler websites in search of dust bags not only for my Emma Fox bags, but any bag in my closet that did not have one. I could not believe what I was seeing. Dust bags from $10 each to over $50 each. I was not paying that. I found myself getting pissed that Emma Fox did not provide me with a dust bag for my $298/$129.99 investment. Really Emma Fox?

My next thought was to make some. But by the time I purchase fabric, string to draw it close, and thread for my sewing machine, I may as well buy the ones I saw online. Then the light bulb in my head turned on… and quite brightly might I add. It’s back to school time, which means that places like Target and Walmart would be selling laundry bags for around $5 or so. But who would sell a laundry bag that’s on the small side and not too thick or heavy? Dollar Tree! I went today on my launch break and this is what I found:

This bag came in beige, blue, and burgundy. I opted for the beige. After all they were cheap and I was not sure if the color would bleed onto other things in my closet, not to mention my handbags. I also was not sure of the size, but for $1 each, I bought all of the beige ones that I saw.

This is what the bag looks like out of the package. It even has an outer slip pocket, which I thought was nice.

This is what the bag looks like with my black Emma Fox handbag inside:

I am very pleased with these “dust bags.” These low quality, draw string laundry bags with the outer slip pocket worked out perfectly. This is a very inexpensive way to protect my investment. And to think that my coworker suggested pillowcases… which would have worked, but pillowcases don’t have a drawstring closure. This is better!

mrsFAB reviews: Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara **UPDATED**

20130804-092902.jpg

FABulous ones, get into this! Mary Kay has a mascara that I absolutely love. It’s their Lash Love mascara. I’ve been using this for just over a year and it’s one of the best mascaras that I’ve ever tried.

I am normally not a user of Mary Kay products. I actually got turned on to this product via online shopping. I ordered something (God knows what) and a full size tube of this mascara was sent with my order as a sample. I simply threw it in my makeup drawer with the tons of other samples that I get.

Months later I tried the sample. This mascara was amazing! It lengthened and separated my lashes with ONE coat. The second coat that I applied was icing on the cake. It immediately became my FABfave mascara, and a beauty essential in my makeup arsenal.

This mascara is not all clumpy after applying multiple coats, which are actually not needed if you have at least medium length lashes. I use the regular formula and I don’t have any issues with it running or smudging if I sweat or cry. They do have a waterproof formula and both formulas come in “I love black” and “I love brown.” I use the black.

That picture is one I took after rushing and slapping on a coat. Not the best picture, but I wanted to show the kind of lash length that you can achieve with one coat. And to be honest, I think there may have been some mascara residue on my lashes from the day before. That’s why the lashes don’t look as smooth as they normally do. Oh well…

Ladies, this mascara is definitely worth trying. It is reasonably priced at $15 per tube. To order your tube of my FABfave, click here.

UPDATE:

Mary Kay now has the Lash Love mascara in a lengthening formula! I just texted my girl to get me a tube and I will update this post with my findings. The regular formula already lengthens. I can only imagine what this new formula will do. I can’t wait to try it. Smooches! 🙂

UPDATE II: Let the lengthening begin!

20130812-190220.jpg

I got the lengthening formula a few days ago and I love it! I actually think that my lashes are a bit longer with this formula versus the original.

The first thing that I noticed was the curved shape brush. The original formula has a straight brush. This brush holds the product perfectly… not too little and not too much.

Here is a picture of my lashes with this latest formula. I tried to get a side angle. Excuse my huge eyeball! LOL

I like the lengthening formula, but I think you can’t go wrong with either of them. The end result will be long, full, FABulous lashes! This product gets 5 out of 5 stars on the FABness scale. Get yours today.
