-There is some city in the Dallas, Texas area that just passed a no texting while driving law. I had no problem with that until I read where the law also applies to the use of your navigational system while driving. Isn’t that what navigational systems in your car or on your smartphone are for? I’m not from Texas and I use my navigational system all of the time. This is crazy. What about travelers or people simply not being familiar with a particular area of town? DFW has a gazillion “toy towns” as I call them. Since I don’t frequent the “hood” parts (don’t be offended… just being real here) I NEED to have an escape route!

-I need to check out Iman’s new Global Chic Summer collection. I love her. I think I want everything in that picture. Her collection can be found at HSN.

-I’m nervous about starting the Beachbody “21 Day Fix” diet plan after Memorial Day. The fear of failing has me anxious. I don’t want to let down myself nor my sissy, NurseFAB, who will be coaching me. *sighs*

I Did It AGAIN With Flip Flop Graphics!

20140520-083408-30848881.jpg

I’m back with another post about something in my kitchen. Have I turned my blog into a cooking blog? No, but my blog is about what is FABulous to me at any given moment. Right now, I’m into homemade goods and controlling the ingredients that are in the food that I eat. With my recent weight gain (I will lose it, darn it!), my focus is on getting back into shape while still being able to enjoy good quality food. Even though I have my dad’s sweet tooth, the hubby scarfs down most of my sweet treats so I don’t have a chance to over indulge. It works out.

With that being said, my love for a grand kitchen and having all of the gadgets that I THINK I NEED, is in full effect. I shared with you my tricked out hot pink KitchenAid mixer. I absolutely love it and the fact that I have a gorgeously decorated mixer for a fraction of the cost of a custom paint job ($20 versus $500). But what about my hand mixer? It’s a lovely green, but looks odd next to the loveliness that is my hot pink stand mixer. What on Earth shall I do? This…

Isn’t it pretty? I contacted Christy at Flip Flop Graphics and she sent me decals to adorn my hand mixer. Now my mixers look great together in my kitchen.

Did you notice this?

Christy made custom name decals for me. How cute is that? But it does not end there… Continue reading

Let the Fireworks Begin!

20140507-123937.jpg

I am a shopping channel junkie. My discovery of Temp-tations by Tara bakeware has not helped matters. I have been a Temp-tations ordering fool since last October!

Today is the “Cooking on Q” day on QVC. Many of the FABnistas have been waiting on a 16 piece baking set in the hot summer holiday color called Fireworkfetti. Everyone was excited about the special of the day that launched at midnight and in addition, this item was pretty much on everyone’s “must have” list.

Well after staying up wayyyy past my bead time, two hours came an went and there was no site of the Fireworkfetti set. The host mentioned that it sold out, but us FABnistas knew that was pure foolery. It was never an option for us to purchase. The Nistas were NOT having that!

Several FABnistas were on the live chat this morning during the Temp-tations presentation. It was hosted by Lisa, Temp-tations Tara’s right hand. Everyone was asking over and over (Did I mention over again?) about the Fireworkfetti set. We were told that the Fireworkfetti did not make inventory in time, and that they will let us know when they know. Bummer!

Then about halfway through the chat, Lisa announced that the Fireworkfetti set would be availalbe during that 10 am show. I could feel the excitement through my iPad screen. That was wonderful… rejoice!

This ‘Ain’t’ Your Mama’s KitchenAid!

20140428-062647.jpg

About a month ago, I purchased my very first KitchenAid stand mixer. I have enjoyed a Kitchen Aid hand mixer for many years (and have owned other brands of stand mixers), but never took the plunge for the KitchenAid stand mixer.

One day one of my FABfave Shopping networks, QVC, had the KitchenAid stand mixer as their Today’s Special Value. It came with two mixing bowls, an additional paddle attachment, and the much sought after splatter shield. The icing on the cake… they had it in the color cranberry, aka HOT PINK! My Sorors know that I had to have that pink mixer!

Since it has arrived I have been a baking fool. From breads, to cakes, to cookies, and more. I have been having a blast with my KitchenAid. That is until I saw Ree Drummond, “The Pioneer Woman” on TV with the cutest KA mixer ever! “I MUST have that,” I thought. I researched and it was a $500 custom paint job. Thanks but no thanks. *insert my giving Ree the side eye here* Here is her amazing mixer.

20140428-091751.jpg

I was NOT going to pay $500 to trick out my mixer, but was determined to find that look for less. I went on Google, Pinterest, eBay, everywhere. Somehow I came across some ideas on Etsy. This is where I hit the jackpot! Look at my mixer now…

How did I do it? Want the deets? Of course I’m going to share!

mrsFAB reviews: Wolfgang Puck’s Automatic Pressure Cooker

20130906-095340.jpg

I am so the foodie, which is not the best thing when trying to drop a few pounds. Who am I kidding… lots of pounds. But when I saw the presentation of Wolfgang Puck’s automatic rapid pressure last year, I had to give it a try!

I bought it from HSN (Home Shopping Network) as a Today’s Special for $89 with free shipping. As of posting deadline today, it is on sale (regular 129.95) for $99.95 with $12.95 UPS shipping and a two payment flex pay option (2 x $49.98, 3 with HSN card).

On HSN’s website, it’s available in black, blue, orange (my FABfave), and red. Click here to check it out.

FABchic For Cheap Double Edition: Boots and Bags

20130906-093512.jpg

You would have to have been living under a rock if you don’t know that the ankle boot is trending majorly this fall. Ankle boots/shoe boots/booties are in every fashion magazine, blog… just EVERYWHERE.

Last week I stopped by a few stores on my way home from the gym looking for FABfinds. While I have a slue of ankle boots in my closet from years gone by, it never hurts for a gal to have a new pair of shoes!

Near my gym, is what I call my “budget corridor.” There is a strip mall area with a TJ Maxx *FABfave,* Marshall’s, Steinmart, DSW, and a Ross. Since I stop by the TJ Maxx and Marshall’s every other day, I chose to go to Ross.

Of all of the stores in my bargain corridor, Ross is my least favorite because of its presentation. It’s usually not neat and reminds me of a junk shoppe. I go by there every now and then. When I do, I make a b-line straight to the shoe section. Saturday was my lucky day because I scored those black suede stiletto ankle boots for *insert drum roll here* $18.99! I already have several ensembles in mind to rock with them and I canNOT wait!

20130906-093537.jpg

After snatching up theses shoes, my handbag rep, Rebecca from Macy’s, called me a about a robin blue Coach bag that I had inquired about. The style is the medium Candace Carryall in the Legacy leather. It retails for $398. Rebecca told me that there was one left in Texas. She provided me with a sku, the phone number to a store in another city, and a discount code. I was able to snag this bag for UNDER $200! *Thanks Rebecca* I’m alway telling people to get a contact person at your FABfave handbag stores. The sales reps work on commission a lot of the times and are happy to give you the heads up on sales, discounts, availability, and more. A little effort is worth it! Note to self: Write a thank you note to Rebecca.<~Yes, the 'Thank You' note… hand written. Just do it! 🙂

I Stole Her Look: Divya from ‘Royal Pains’

20130829-104336.jpg

I am a huge fan of the hit TV show Royal Pains. One my FABfave characters is the nurse practitioner Diyva. She wears the most FABulous ensembles on the show and today I stole her look!

Divya wears ensembles that are just bursting with color. With the show being filmed in the summer and being set in the Hamptons, I understand why. Take a look at Divya’s head to toe look from an episode this season:

20130829-115444.jpg

This look was quite easy for me to mimic. Most of the items I already had in my closet. Here’s how:

– I used a hot pink short sleeved shirt and wore it open like a jacket. I’m in Texas and the short sleeves work better in this Texas heat.
– I was grocery shopping and spotted a red lace cami at Walmart for three bucks!
-I wore white linen pants that I already had… I had to get them in before Labor Day! #old school
– I pulled out some gold jewelry (which I rarely wear) from my jewelry box. I did purchase the green beaded necklace from Sam Moon for $5.99.
-Green flats from TJ Maxx for $19.99.
-Lastly, my FABfave Emma Fox handbag.

20130829-104355.jpg

This look is so colorful and fun! I have already gotten so many compliments today. I have another Divya look that I will be making my own in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned…. And thanks Divya!! 🙂

Really Emma Fox?

20130812-193840.jpg

This past weekend was tax free in Texas. While on the hunt for bargains, I came across one of my FABfaves… A black version of my Emma Fox fold over tote. This bag retails for $298, but I snagged it for $129.99. Cha-Ching!

I have this same handbag in a soft mustard color. I get compliments every time I carry it. One thing that did not dawn on me, for some reason, was the fact that neither bag came with a dust bag. All of my other brand name bags came with one, but not these.

“Perhaps it’s because I purchased them at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s,” was was my first thought. Then I did a quick Google search and came across many posts, comments, etc. about Emma Fox bags not coming with a dust bag. *gasps* What tha? All of my better quality bags have dust bags… from my LV bags, to my Gucci bags, to my Michael Kors and Dooney & Burke bags to even my BeBe and Coach bags. Emma Fox, this is unacceptable!

My brain immediately started to click. I went online to eBay and wholesaler websites in search of dust bags not only for my Emma Fox bags, but any bag in my closet that did not have one. I could not believe what I was seeing. Dust bags from $10 each to over $50 each. I was not paying that. I found myself getting pissed that Emma Fox did not provide me with a dust bag for my $298/$129.99 investment. Really Emma Fox?

My next thought was to make some. But by the time I purchase fabric, string to draw it close, and thread for my sewing machine, I may as well buy the ones I saw online. Then the light bulb in my head turned on… and quite brightly might I add. It’s back to school time, which means that places like Target and Walmart would be selling laundry bags for around $5 or so. But who would sell a laundry bag that’s on the small side and not too thick or heavy? Dollar Tree! I went today on my launch break and this is what I found:

20130812-193924.jpg

This bag came in beige, blue, and burgundy. I opted for the beige. After all they were cheap and I was not sure if the color would bleed onto other things in my closet, not to mention my handbags. I also was not sure of the size, but for $1 each, I bought all of the beige ones that I saw.

This is what the bag looks like out of the package. It even has an outer slip pocket, which I thought was nice.

This is what the bag looks like with my black Emma Fox handbag inside:

I am very pleased with these “dust bags.” These low quality, draw string laundry bags with the outer slip pocket worked out perfectly. This is a very inexpensive way to protect my investment. And to think that my coworker suggested pillowcases… which would have worked, but pillowcases don’t have a drawstring closure. This is better!
