Really Emma Fox?

This past weekend was tax free in Texas. While on the hunt for bargains, I came across one of my FABfaves… A black version of my Emma Fox fold over tote. This bag retails for $298, but I snagged it for $129.99. Cha-Ching!

I have this same handbag in a soft mustard color. I get compliments every time I carry it. One thing that did not dawn on me, for some reason, was the fact that neither bag came with a dust bag. All of my other brand name bags came with one, but not these.

“Perhaps it’s because I purchased them at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s,” was was my first thought. Then I did a quick Google search and came across many posts, comments, etc. about Emma Fox bags not coming with a dust bag. *gasps* What tha? All of my better quality bags have dust bags… from my LV bags, to my Gucci bags, to my Michael Kors and Dooney & Burke bags to even my BeBe and Coach bags. Emma Fox, this is unacceptable!

My brain immediately started to click. I went online to eBay and wholesaler websites in search of dust bags not only for my Emma Fox bags, but any bag in my closet that did not have one. I could not believe what I was seeing. Dust bags from $10 each to over $50 each. I was not paying that. I found myself getting pissed that Emma Fox did not provide me with a dust bag for my $298/$129.99 investment. Really Emma Fox?

My next thought was to make some. But by the time I purchase fabric, string to draw it close, and thread for my sewing machine, I may as well buy the ones I saw online. Then the light bulb in my head turned on… and quite brightly might I add. It’s back to school time, which means that places like Target and Walmart would be selling laundry bags for around $5 or so. But who would sell a laundry bag that’s on the small side and not too thick or heavy? Dollar Tree! I went today on my launch break and this is what I found:

This bag came in beige, blue, and burgundy. I opted for the beige. After all they were cheap and I was not sure if the color would bleed onto other things in my closet, not to mention my handbags. I also was not sure of the size, but for $1 each, I bought all of the beige ones that I saw.

This is what the bag looks like out of the package. It even has an outer slip pocket, which I thought was nice.

I am very pleased with these “dust bags.” These low quality, draw string laundry bags with the outer slip pocket worked out perfectly. This is a very inexpensive way to protect my investment. And to think that my coworker suggested pillowcases… which would have worked, but pillowcases don’t have a drawstring closure. This is better!
